The goal was to create a set of playing cards, with each card having its own distinct features but all of them working together systematically. My playing cards are based off of “The Fault in Our Stars”, young adult author John Green’s best selling novel (also a movie). For the king and queen, I used the main characters Augustus and Hazel. The jack is Isaac, the supporting character and also Augustus’ best friend. The joker is a lung and thyroid with multiple tumors, symbolizing Hazel’s thyroid cancer.
